Robin ChildersThe Home Health Section announces today that long-term Executive Director Robin Childers will leave the organization at the end of February, after nearly nineteen years of service to the Section, for a new adventure.

Childers informed the Section Executive Committee of her plan to leave in October and leadership initiated a request for proposals for a new association management company shortly thereafter, interviewing several in November. The Section intends to engage Civica Associations, Conferences & Exhibitions of Denver, Colorado in February.

Ms. Childers issued the following departure message to members by email earlier today:

Less than a month ago, the valley and surrounding mountains where I live (Missoula, Montana) were brown and bare. Today, you can only see the tallest grasses poking out of the snow. The snow shovel leaning against the front fence has been in constant use since late December. At this moment, it seems unlikely that winter is waning, but the days are already lengthening, and we’ve marked another orbit of our planet around the sun.

As 2019 begins, both the Home Health Section and I are preparing to complete old orbits and make new beginnings.

I’ll be leaving as the Home Health Section’s Executive Director at the end of February in order to pursue new endeavors. During February, the Home Health Section and I will be transitioning the organization to a new association management company and new Executive Director.

The Home Health Section Executive Committee has selected Civica Associations, Conferences & Exhibitions, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, to provide the Section with association management services beginning in February. Section members who live or work in Colorado may already be familiar with Civica’s principal, Don Knox, who serves as Executive Director of the Colorado Chapter of APTA and the Colorado Home Care Association. Don and his team are familiar with the home care industry and physical therapy profession, providing for much continuity as we make this transition. Civica staff will bring significant management expertise to the Section, along with a reputation for integrity and innovation.

The Home Health Section address will change, but you’ll find the same high level of service you’ve come to expect.

It’s been my pleasure to serve the Section and its members for nearly nineteen years. Together we’ve weathered changes to the home care payment environment and adapted to technologies we couldn’t even have imagined twenty years ago. Many Section leaders and members have provided me with guidance along the road as we built new programs and services that benefited the home health physical therapy community. I’m incredibly grateful for the dedication and selflessness of the many volunteers who worked for the good of the whole and helped the Section to succeed.

I look forward to seeing many of you at Combined Sections Meeting in Washington, DC later this month.

Best wishes in the New Year,

Robin Childers
Executive Director
